We look hard to find the very best antique heart pine timbers on the market so we can supply you with the very best flooring and paneling available. We actually put up 4 grades of Antique Pine for flooring and paneling.
The premium grade is consistent to the darker color and has only a few & small knots, maximum knot no larger than a quarter, very few nail holes.
The classic grade allows more, larger sound knots and the color varies more than the premium, allows some nail holes.
The rustic character grade allows unlimited knots and some splits but still makes a beautiful, rustic floor, usually has a lot of nail holes.
The last grade of Antique Pine does not have enough heart in it to go in the other 3 grades and the color is not as good, but when stained some darker it makes a beautiful old antique floor, usually has a lot of nail holes.
We offer most any width you want but the standard sizes are 3/4” x 3, 4, & 5” faces, which is a 4, 5, & 6” nominal width. We sell a variety of random width floors that is 4-6-8 nominal width with the faces being ¾ x 3, 5, & 7. All of the above sizes are within the regular pricing and if you want other thickness or widths then we price them according to the size and our supply. We offer widths up to a 9” face with a limited supply up to 14”.
We sell T&G planed flooring and paneling as well as wire-brushed, skip-planed, natural weathered face, circle sawn face, and hand-scraped face and edges.
All of our flooring is kiln-dried to a moisture content of 8-10%. Kiln drying helps insure that after installation shrinkage is not a problem. Our flooring also has a machined tongue and groove and a nail groove for better installation. The offset tongue and groove and the thickness of our flooring that includes stress relief “V” grooves on the back provide more stability and longer wear. The higher quality finish on our flooring is a result of the use of a unique flooring machine, rather than the planer used by most.
We also offer molding and stair products. Available in a premium and (classic-rustic grade mixed) in the stair parts. Please view this under specialty products.
Our Pine & Oak Mountain Authentic Wood flooring is made from longleaf pine, the same type tree from which antique heart pine originated. Once common in colonial virgin forests, the longleaf pine has been mostly replaced by faster growing, softer varieties of pine. Although this majestic tree is not as common as it once was, we have a good supply. These logs are harvested primarily from Florida and South Georgia.
We offer our pine flooring in “true heart pine” and “heavy to dense grain.” All of our flooring is kiln dried to a moisture content of 8-10%. Kiln drying helps insure that after installation shrinkage is not a problem. Our flooring also has a machined tongue and groove and a nail groove for better installation. The off set tongue and groove and the thickness of our flooring that includes stress relief “V” grooves on the back provide more stability and longer wear. Our standard thickness is 3/4” unless desired otherwise and we may have it thicker or thinner as needed. We offer other sizes of thickness if needed based on our supply to produce. The higher quality finish on our flooring is a result of the use of a unique flooring machine, rather than the planer used by most. We sell T&G planed flooring and paneling as well as wire-brushed, skip-planed, natural weathered face, circle sawn face, and hand-scraped face and edges.
All inside wood should be acclimated for 7 days or more.
